The Challenge
Kerry came to SOM filled with passion and readiness to immediately dive into his rebrand process. Kerry has been gaining bookings from word of mouth and external management companies for years, but he had never honed his personal brand and online presence.
Ultimately, he was frustrated with the stagnant nature of his business (the type of client he was attracting, number of paid bookings, etc.) and strongly felt it was time to level up his brand’s look.
Our Approach
Starting with a blank slate allowed our team to do a true, in-depth brand discovery process with Kerry, working through his ideal performance venues, sense of personal style, and industry positioning.
We created a very modern, refined, and patriotic color palette, inspired by Kerry’s former career in the American military. The colors are complemented by a masculine yet elegant typeface to reflect his personality. We were also inspired by the curvature of the bass clef and its two dots, so we decided to incorporate those into the logos, icon mark, and patterns with clever variations.
We then introduced a “smart-casual” handwritten font in Kerry’s favorite color, Carolina Blue, as a nod to his signature vocal style — which came together to bring his operatic career to life.
When Kerry’s brand identity was finalized, we rolled out his new aesthetic on a custom WordPress site with booking, contact, blogging, and music streaming capabilities, plus an integrated list of upcoming performances.
